Camp Bayou invites the public for a nature-filled morning of activities from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on National Trails Day, June 1.
Visitors can participate in outdoors activities on the Learning Center's Big Lawn or take a trail walk through Camp Bayou's 160 acres.
A 90-minute, guided canoe tour will be offered for a $25 rental fee per canoe - or $5 if you have your own canoe or kayak. Canoe rental availability is limited to first-come, first-serve, starting at 9 a.m. The tour departs from the canoe dock at 9:30.
The event will kick off a new and improved photo contest for 2013. This year winners will receive a prize and award ribbon. So bring your camera along to take pictures of the flora and fauna you see. You might very well capture a prize winner.
A grilled cheese sandwich, drink and chips are available for $5 at 11:30 a.m.
The Camp Bayou Outdoor Learning Center is a public-private partnership between Bayou Outdoor Learning and Discovery Inc., Ruskin Community Development Foundation and Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation. It is located three miles south of State Road 674 at the end of 24th Street Southeast in Ruskin.
