A Riverview driver was killed in crash while attempting to make a U-turn outside a Riverview apartment complex late Thursday, deputies said.
Asia I. Robinson, 30, died at Tampa General Hospital shortly after the crash, which occurred at 10:14 p.m. on Progress Boulevard in front of The Enclave at Tranquility Lake apartments, deputies said.
Robinson, of 9727 Tranquility Lake Circle, lived at the apartment complex, as do her passengers, 28-year-old Kenny Rivas and a 1-month-old infant, Asia Rivas, deputies said.
The passengers were not injured, deputies said.
Robinson, in a 2008 Audi sedan, turned west onto Progress out of apartment complex, deputies said. She drove to the end of a median and, from the right side of the road, initiated a U-turn to head east, deputies said.
Bryan S. Weidman, 18, driving a 1994 Chevrolet SUV on westbound Progress, saw the Audi’s actions, applied the brakes and swerved left, attempting to avoid a collision, deputies said. However, the Chevrolet hit the driver’s side of the Audi, deputies said.
Weidman, of Tampa, was not injured, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office report.
An investigation into the crash in ongoing.
