While other builders are pulling back and even closing shop as a result of the tough economic times, Ashton Woods Homes is reporting an increase in the number of sales and is in a growth mode.

"Our sales are up 65 percent over this time last year,'' says Mike Roche, regional vice president of sales and marketing for the Atlanta-based company. "We sold 26 homes in our recent quarter compared to only 17 last year at this time."

Those homes were sold in the company's five neighborhoods in the Tampa Bay area: The Landings in South Tampa, Camden Woods in Riverview, Fern Grove in Valrico, Sagamore Trace in Seffner and Palm Cove in Wesley Chapel.

The vice president attributes the company's growth to a variety of conditions.

"Location is critical," Roche says. "We place our communities convenient to transportation venues, so people will have an easy commute. We also like them to be close to shopping and entertainment."

The quality of the home is paramount, he adds. "The way we build our homes is what sets Ashton Woods apart. Design and construction are crucial in building a good home. We construct our homes as tight as possible in an effort to enhance the energy efficiencies of the home. We build an energy-efficient system into every one of our homes. This system of building saves our Ashton Woods homeowners 15 percent to 25 percent each month in energy bills."

The staff at Ashton Woods Homes is knowledgeable, friendly and professional, Roche says. "We hire great people and they do great things. Our sales staff is friendly and experienced. Our construction superintendents have been building homes for years. They have the experience to create great homes and ensure the building process runs very smoothly for each and every home buyer."

The warranty program also is one of the best in the business, Roche notes. "We inspect each home throughout the building process and never leave anything undone before the closing process. We want 100 percent customer satisfaction on each and every home we build.

"We come back again after one month, five months and 11 months to check the home and ensure our homeowners are 100 percent satisfied with their new home. While other builders are taking shortcuts in the warranty arena, we have taken recent steps to enhance our already superior warranty efforts.

"We want to make sure that the home is performing exactly as it should be."

Ashton Woods has been building single-family homes throughout the United States for more than 30 years and in the Tampa Bay area for the past five years, Roche says. He says the company has developed a reputation for quality, award-winning designs and superior service.

"While other builders are scaling back we are planning for a bright and productive future in the Tampa Bay area," he says. "We are currently growing our business and expanding our presence in the area."

Ashton Woods homes provide 1,550 to 3,435 square feet of living space and are priced from the $170,000s to the high $300,000s. Standard features include 42-inch upper maple cabinets in kitchens, solid surface countertops, crown molding, 5¼-inch baseboards, low-emissivity dual pane vinyl windows, ceramic tile and more.

"Ashton Woods Homes offers a wide variety of upgrades in our design center,'' Roche says. "We give our homeowners the opportunity to personalize their homes even down to the grout color.'' Some available upgrades include wood flooring, stainless steel appliances and surround sound.

"We're currently beating the street and looking for new property to develop," Roche says, adding that the company is in negotiations on several pieces of land in the Tampa Bay area.

"We're here to stay. With our exceptional product, attention to detail, and A-plus team, our growth in this tough market does not surprise me at all,'' Roche says. "A wise man once told me that with an excellent product, the right team and competitive pricing, no one can stop you. So, we plan to keep growing and strive to make each of our home buyers very proud of their new purchase.

"If you're looking for the greatest value in a new home, then visit one of our five Bay area communities and see why we are the place to be."
