Since beginning in 1972, Maronda has built more than 20,000 homes, with company officials touting Maronda as a builder that offers buyers more home for less money.

"Maronda's slogan is simple: an easily observable, better value," says spokesman Gregg Carlson.

Maronda offers homes in several states and has been building in the Suncoast area since 1999. The company has built more than 2,000 homes in the Tampa area, and is building in Charlotte, Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pasco, Polk and Sarasota counties.

Maronda has more than 100 homes under construction with only a few of those being inventory homes, Carlson says.

So why is Maronda able to provide its customers with more home for less money?
"Maronda's cost savings come from the large number of homes we build every year, which enables us to have a large purchasing power," Carlson says. He adds that the company has several state-of the-art manufacturing plants, allowing it to manufacture many home-building components itself.

"By manufacturing components, purchasing directly from mills or manufacturers and supplying and delivering materials and labor, we have more control over what goes into each home and can maintain a strict production schedule, high-quality standards and most of all huge cost savings to the consumer," Carlson says.

The average construction schedule is 90 days or less from start to finish for most of the homes Maronda builds.

Carlson adds that the price of the home always includes the lot and all associated permit and impact fees. Homes are built to meet or exceed all hurricane standards and each includes a one-year warranty on workmanship and materials, a two-year bonded builders warranty and a 10-year structural warranty.

Maronda offers a variety of one- and two-story floor plans with 1,156 to 3,891 square feet of living space, up to five bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms and a three-car garage. Homes are priced from $115,900 to the mid-$200,000s.

Price Pfister faucets, Shaw carpeting, Merillat cabinets, General Electric appliances and American Standard plumbing fixtures are among the name-brand products used throughout the homes, Carlson says.

Prospective home buyers can check out furnished models in 26 communities across the Tampa Bay area. The model centers are open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
