Bolts fans take on the challenge of growing a playoff beard

Published:

A majority of players in the National Hockey League have been known to let their beards grow as long as their team remains in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Hockey fans have been known to join the players by growing their own beards. Whether it’s because of superstition or just supporting the team, the Tampa Bay Lightning have found a way to tie the craze in with a good cause.

This year, fans can invite friends and family to pledge money as they grow their beards to support the Lightning Foundation and Moffitt Cancer Center’s prostate cancer research.

“Participants are eligible to win prizes for raising money, including first round Lightning playoff tickets,” according to the Lightning’s website. “The top overall fundraiser will win an autographed stick and jersey by a Lightning player.”

If you have been growing your own playoff beard, be sure to tag your Instagram photo with #GoBolts and #BeSeen so that the image shows up in our online gallery and can be seen by other Lightning faithful.
