Sales event ushers in Lennar's new models

The best time to get a great deal on a new car is when the manufacturers are ready to roll out their new models and want to clear out existing inventories. That's the concept behind Lennar's Model Year-End Countdown event, says Mark Metheny, president of the home builder's Central Florida division.

Through March, Lennar is offering savings on select inventory homes in its 17 communities in the Tampa Bay area. The sale kicked off this month with 89 move-in ready homes. With about 25 available at press time, potential buyers will want to visit the Lennar community of their choice soon, Methenny says.

"These homes are priced to sell, with savings of up to $75,000," Metheny says. "Just like an automobile dealer who has a year-end sale to make way for their new lineup of cars, Lennar is slashing prices on existing homes to make way for our new product line."

The tax credit for first-time home buyers that recently was passed by Congress will help to sweeten the deal, Metheny says. First-time home buyers, as well as those who have not owned a home for the past three years, may qualify for a tax credit of up to $8,000.

"This is different from the previous $7,500 tax credit from last year, which had to be repaid over time," he adds. "This tax credit doesn't have to be paid back."

Lennar will introduce its 2009 line on April 4 at the Concept Home Showplace. The showplace, at Shady Creek on U.S. 301 in Riverview, will feature 10 models that have never been offered in any U.S. market.

The three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, priced from the mid-$100,000s to the high $300,000s, provide 1,500 to 3,200 square feet of living space.

"The new Lennar models have smarter designs, with larger kitchens that feature more cabinet space, updated master suites with larger closets and re-designed master bathrooms. Each home includes a two- or three-car garage and enhanced outdoor living space with covered lanais, for the Florida lifestyle," Metheny says.

Both the existing homes in the Model Year-End Countdown and the new designs featured in the Concept Home Showplace include "all of the most popular features and upgrades that buyers want included in the purchase price," Metheny says. "There are no hidden costs. Buyers can save thousands on these specially-priced homes and take advantage of special financing offers. No matter where you work or where you want to live, Lennar has a community to accommodate those desires."

The 10 models in the Concept Home Showplace will be open through May and eventually will be built in all of Lennar's single-family home communities.

"This is a very exciting time for the Central Florida division of Lennar because we have the opportunity to showcase all 10 new models in one location for a limited time," Metheny says. "Buyers won't have to drive from community to community to see them all."

Lennar's grand opening event for the Concept Home Showplace is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. "We'll have a live radio remote, entertainment and food, as well as some very special gifts for the first people to arrive at the event," Metheny adds.

Each Lennar community features professionally decorated models that are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
