PLANT CITY St. Clement Catholic Church recently shared some of the proceeds of its shortcake sales at the Florida Strawberry Festival.

The church sold nearly 94,000 shortcakes in the 11-day festival that wrapped in March 9. Most of the profits went to help the church’s ministries and missions but a total of $2,000 was donated to other charitable work.

The United Food Bank of Plant City was given $1,500, and the Commotion in Motion team at Plant City’s Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society was awarded $500. The Relay for Life contribution was given in memory of Barbara Caccamisi, a longtime church shortcake booth coordinator who died in 2012 after a battle with cancer.

The church also thanked its supporters, including the Gutierrez Family Farms, Greater Plant City Chamber of Commerce, Sunshine State Federal Savings, Keel and Curley Winery and Sweetbay/Winn-Dixie.
