PLANT CITY — Parents who want to show the world that they have a beautiful child should mark their calendars for Jan. 25. That’s the date for signups for the Florida Strawberry Festival’s baby parade.

Registration for 1- and 2-year-olds is from 8 to 9 a.m.; 3- and 4-year-olds is from 9 to 10 a.m. The registration takes place at Plant City Mortgage, 1507 S. Alexander St., Suite 101.

The baby parade itself takes place March 8 at the Strawberry Festival’s grandstand. Children will compete in age groups in such categories as most handsome boy, most beautiful girl, most personality, best costume and best float.

There’s a maximum of 50 entries in each age group. The entry fee, to be paid at time of signup, is $25, cash only.

If there are any openings left after Jan. 25, registration will continue through Feb. 7, baby parade chairwoman Natasha Davis said.

The parade has been sponsored by the Plant City Junior Woman’s Club for several decades, Davis said.

It’s one of the most popular events at the Strawberry Festival.

The competition is open to children who live east of U.S. 301. For information, call Davis at (813) 215-7698 or co-chairwoman Marissa Brewington at (813) 763-9447.
