Shoppers can find lots of Christmas gifts at Saturday church festival

PLANT CITY Anyone looking to get an early start on their Christmas shopping can do so at Springhead Baptist Church’s fall craft festival.

The festival takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of the church, 3106 S. Wiggins Road.

The festival will feature home-based party items such as Scentsy, Mary Kay, Premier Designs Jewelry and Thirty-One. Also up for sale will be yard sale goods, handcrafted items and plants.

Connie Hopkins, who organizes the festival, said Springhead Baptist rents out space to vendors and its members sell food to raise money for the church.

“This is the second time that we’ve done it but we skipped a year,” she said, adding that schedule conflicts prevented them from holding the festival last year.

“We tried to make sure this year when we picked the date that we didn’t have a lot of stuff going on,” she said.

The festival will consist of 20 to 25 vendors in the fellowship hall, while plant vendors will display outside on church grounds.

Hopkins said that the popularity of the first festival influenced the decision to hold the second one.

“Some of our church members enjoyed it the last time,” she said. “It’s a good time to start your Christmas shopping, and it’s kind of a time to see everything in one place so we wanted to do it again.”

Hopkins said that the variety of vendors has helped attract shoppers.

“To make it a success you’ve got to have plenty of different things out there for people,” she said, “and we’ll probably continue doing it with the turnout we’re having this year.”
