A fire damaged a Plant City home Wednesday night, but the occupants got out safety and a pet iguana was rescued by firefighters.
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries as crews worked to extinguish the flames at 4221 Nova Dee Lane, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.
Multiple fire units responded about 9:30 p.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the attic. The occupants had escaped the home before firefighters arrived.
Water shuttle operations were used due to a lack of hydrants in the area, Fire Rescue spokeswoman Nacole Revette said.
The residents declined assistance from the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Revette said in a news release.
