PLANT CITY Registration is continuing through Nov. 22 for the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department/Optimist Youth Basketball Program.
Youths compete in six age groups, including 8- and 9-year-old boys and girls; 10- and 11-year-old boys; 10- and 11-year-old girls; 12- and 13-year-old boys; 12- to 14-year-old girls; and 14- to 16-year-old boys.
About 400 youths participated on 38 teams last season, playing games at the Plant City Family YMCA gym or at the Marshall and Tomlin Middle School gyms.
The season is played from early January through the end of February, with games mostly on Saturdays for the 8- and 9-year-olds and week nights for the older age groups.
The registration fee of $35 covers all expenses, including jersey and supplemental accident insurance for participation in the league, now in its 45th season.
Registrations will be accepted by mail or in person at the Recreation and Parks Department administrative office, 1904 S. Park Road.
