Plant City

COACH: Wayne Ward

2011 RECORD: 7-3.

KEY LOSSES: QB Bennie Coney, RB Dazmond Patterson, WR Lamarlin Wiggins, DB/WR Antwon Armstrong, OL/DL Colton Box, LB Jalen Butler, DL/OL Jose Guerrero, DB Sam Green.

KEY RETURNERS: QB/DB/WR Nick Rodriguez, RB Ke'Shawn Forte, WR/QB Landon Galloway, RB/LB Jontavia Sykes, OL Seth Crowell, DL/OL Devyn Salmon, OL/DL Montel McBride.

SPRING FOCUS: College-bound Coney (Cincinnati) and Patterson (Ohio University) will be missed. "Those two men did a phenomenal job for us," Ward said. "Replacing guys like that is going to take a team effort." Despite losing key performers throughout the lineup, there is plenty of talent returning among 41 players at spring practices. Rodriguez, who has backed up Coney, and Galloway are in a battle to take over at quarterback. Forte is expected to take the bulk of the carries at running back. "The main thing for him is being consistent," Ward said. The offensive line has potential. "When we get that chemistry," Ward said. "We should be pretty good up front." The defense is young, but has some experience. Ward will have to rebuild the secondary, but has some promising athletes to work with. "The main goal for the spring is work on the details of the game and stay healthy," Ward said. "We're excited with the guys we have right now. They're all on board."

--- Robinson

COACH: Mike DePue

2011 RECORD: 9-3

KEY LOSSES: WR Byron Pringle, WR Ethan Kindle, TE Tre Leonard, DL Justin Creech, K Kody Thomas.

KEY RETURNERS: RB Martin Ruiz, OL Brooks Lively, OL Ted Kelly, OL Chris Duvall, OL Conner Rafferty, LB Michael Duclos, DB Carlos Duclos, OL/DL John Taylor, QB Vidal Woodruff.

SPRING FOCUS: Coach DePue has announced this will be his last season as a head coach, and he feels great about the state of his program heading into 2012. The transfer of Blake quarterback Zain Gilmore to the Knights has sparked a healthy competition between Gilmore and incumbent quarterback Woodruff. The strength of this team is arguably the offensive line, which returns everybody and should be effective in both passing and rushing situations. One of the biggest questions lies in the kicking department, something Robinson hasn't worried about the past few years with Thomas handling the duties. Overall, Robinson is stronger and better conditioned than it has ever been after an outstanding offseason of weight training.
