PLANT CITY Four youngsters who won top honors at Plant City’s NFL Punt, Pass & Kick competition have advanced to next month’s team championship contest.

Gracie Edgemon, Shelby Jacobsen, Taylor Edgemon and William Cordle will compete Dec. 8 at Raymond James Stadium prior to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Buffalo Bills football game.

The three girls and one boy earned the right to advance to the team championship by winning top honors in their age and gender groups at an Oct. 20 sectional competition at the Bucs’ training center.

Gracie took first in the category for 6- and 7-year-old girls; Shelby was first for 8- and 9-year-old girls; Taylor placed first for 14- and 15-year-old girls; and William was first for 6- and 7-year-old boys.

The competition is judged by the combined distance of each youngster’s punt, pass and kick.

Plant City winners who competed at sectionals but didn’t advance to team competition included Lindsey Smith, who placed second for 12- and 13-year-old girls; Jaylen Gadson, who placed second among 8- and 9-year-old boys; Jarrett Jacobsen, who placed second among 14- and 15-year-old boys; Gavin Hessler, who placed third among 10- and 11-year-old boys; Joe Jacobsen, who placed fourth among 12- and 13-year-old boys; and Natalie Zarycki, who competed but did not place among 10- and 11-year-old girls.
