PLANT CITY – The Plant City Junior Woman’s Club is partnering with a Christmas tree lot to raise money for the group’s annual effort to provide shoes to needy children.

The sales will be at Happy Happy Happy Christmas Trees, 4616 Turkey Creek Road. The lot will be open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily from Friday Nov. 29 through Dec. 23.

The club will receive a $5 donation for each customer who mentions the club and buys a tree at the lot at Turkey Creek Road and State Road 60.

First vice president and president-elect Lisa Rhodes said her group doesn’t have a specific goal but “every $10 pays for another child to receive a new pair of shoes.”

Each year, the club buys shoes for a total of 700 children in 14 elementary schools throughout eastern Hillsborough County, Rhodes said.

The club also provides scholarships to local high school students, among other charitable work, she said.
