Plant City High senior recognized for leadership

Plant City High School senior Nicholas Rodriguez, who excelled academically and in sports, recently received a Hillsborough County leadership award.

Rodriguez was presented with an annual YEA! Award by county commissioners. He won in the leadership category which required demonstrating a positive impact on others in such endeavors as sports, academics and the arts.

Rodriguez has a 6.08 grade point average and will graduate with honors from Plant City High, 11th in his class. He was selected by his classmates and teachers as a Senior Superlative and is Mr. Plant City High School 2012-2013. He served as the captain of the Raiders varsity football and baseball teams.

He will attend the University of Florida after graduation.

The YEA! Awards were created in 2010 to honor students in three categories: Leadership, success despite difficult odds, and volunteer or community service.
