City commissioners Tuesday appointed businessman Billy Keel to fill the unfinished term of Dan Raulerson, who resigned after he won a state House seat.
Keel, 43, has been active in city government in recent years through service on the planning and pension boards. He has resigned from the planning board to take the city commission seat.
Keel, chief financial officer at Matrix Medical, said he was "very excited and humbled," to take the position. He will serve the remainder of Raulerson's term, which ends in June.
He said he plans to seek a full three-year term in the spring's election.
