PLANT CITY The local chapter of USA Dance has sponsored its final monthly dance after a decade.

But there’s no need for alarm among those who like spending time on a dance floor.

Longtime chapter organizer Terri Lynn Goodrich is starting her own monthly dances starting Jan. 5 at the same venue, Stardust Dance Center. The dances will be from 2 to 5 p.m. the first Sunday monthly at the center, 1405 S. Collins St.

Goodrich said the dances she is sponsoring with the help of her husband Michael will continue the chapter’s tradition of great dance music and camaraderie.

“They will be a fun and friendly place to spend a Sunday afternoon,” Goodrich said.

The dances will include a lot of ballroom numbers but also include some line dances.

“Not all the ladies have partners so line dancing is perfect for them. The idea is to keep everyone on the (dance) floor and having a good time,” she said.

Goodrich and volunteer teachers will offer instruction for those who need to brush up on their dance skills - or simply have two left feet.

The dance numbers for the last 30 minutes of each dance will be by audience request.

She will call her monthly dances CHUZTODANCE, which is a different way of saying, “Choose to dance,” she said.

Admission will be $7 per person.
