PLANT CITY – Families in need of a helping hand with Christmas can sign up for Christmas in the Park.

The first 100 families that pre-register can receive gifts for their children ages 5 to 10 at the annual event at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center.

Parents can sign up from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. weekdays at the recreation center, 1601 E. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Families must be from the Plant City area, and registration ends Dec. 6.

The event itself will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 14 and includes food, a visit from Santa and other fun. Parents must bring a photo ID to match their pre-registration paperwork.

The city hosts Christmas in the Park each year with the help of civic clubs and businesses that donate the food, gifts and meet other expenses.

For information, contact MLK Recreation Supervisor Lillie Brown at lbrown@plantcitygov.com or Center Coordinator Ivan Brooks at ibrooks@plantcitygov.com or call the center at (813) 757-9195.
