Meet the candidates for Florida Strawberry Festival queen

Here are the candidates for Florida Strawberry Festival queen:

Kathleen Adkins, daughter of George and Marleen Adkins, is a Plant City High School senior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is a member of Civinettes, National Honor Society, Senior Executive Council and the track team. Her hobbies include singing, running 5Ks, spending time with family, going to the beach, volunteering and traveling. She plans to attend Hillsborough Community College and pursue a degree as a diagnostic technician.

Macaley Barrow, daughter of Stacy and Connie Barrow, is a Durant High senior. She is a member of the Student Government Association, National Honor Society, LEO Club, is a varsity cheerleader and the 2014 cover girl for Durant High calendar. Her hobbies include going to the beach, listening to music, shopping and spending quality time with friends. She plans to attend the University of South Florida, major in biology and pursue a degree in dentistry.

Caroline Birthisel, daughter of Robert “Chip” and Mary “Mimi” Birthisel, is a Newsome High School senior. She was editor-in-chief of the yearbook staff for two consecutive years, and a member of the senior class council and varsity golf team. Her hobbies include volunteering, going to the beach with family and friends, playing golf with her dad and sister, fishing, salsa dancing and exercising. She plans to attend the University of Tampa and pursue a degree in the medical field.

Ashley Bishop, daughter of Mark and Alicia Bishop, is a Plant City High senior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Senior Executive Council, president of Skills USA for Cosmetology, and member of Youth Alive, Civinettes and Raider Buddies, and is reigning Miss June on the school calendar and was on the homecoming court. She plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast University and double major in psychology and legal studies while working as a licensed cosmetologist.

Morgan Boehning, daughter of Geoffrey and Angel Boehning, is a Strawberry Crest High School senior. She is a four-year member of FFA, Veterinary Assistant Program, member Beta Honor Society and was on the Strawberry Crest goat team and placed first in showmanship at the 2013 Hillsborough County Fair. She volunteers at Companion Animal Hospital and is active in her church youth group and a participant in Relay for Life. Her hobbies include horseback riding, traveling, competing in FFA competitions, and showing her goat. She plans to attend the University of Florida and enroll in the veterinary science program.

Kristen Bozek, daughter of Melissa Bozek, is a Strawberry Crest High School graduate. She is a member of the National Honor Society, dean's list and National FFA organization. She attends Plant City's First Baptist Church and helps feed the homeless with the Church at the Park program. She enjoys visiting Disney World, running, and spending time with her little sister Bailee and close friends. She attends Hillsborough Community College and plans to further her education at a major university to become a pediatric dentist.

Kallee Cook, daughter of Kent and Cindy Cook, is a Durant High graduate and Hillsborough Community College sophomore. She is part of Durant's FFA Alumni, Florida and American Angus Association and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. Her hobbies include raising and showing Angus cattle and mentoring student showmen thorough Kalee's Showman Classes. She also enjoys crafts, running and spending time with family and friends. She plans to attend Florida Southern College to obtain a bachelor's degree in education.

Lindsey English, daughter of Chrystal English, is a Plant City High senior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is president of Plant City Sr. FFA Chapter, raises steers annually for the Florida Strawberry Festival, is an ambassador of the Florida Strawberry Growers Association, participates in Relay for Life and works at Johnson's BBQ. Her hobbies include drawing, painting and horseback riding. She attends Plant City Church of God. She plans to attend a four year university to study law and hopes to open her own law firm.

Amber Ham, daughter of Audie and Deena Ham, is a Plant City High senior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is historian for Skills USA for Cosmetology, a National Honor Society member and is working to earn a cosmetologist license while continuing work on a business degree. She plans to own a full service hair salon and spa.

Caitlyn Kent, daughter of Jay and Judith Kent, is a Florida Virtual School senior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America and the National Honor Society. Her hobbies include traveling, visiting theme parks and trying new foods. She is a peer tutor to algebra students through the Florida Virtual School System. She plans to attend the University of Central Florida, majoring in marketing and minoring in fashion design.

Morgan Lewis, daughter of John and Barbara Guerriero, is a Plant City High School senior. She is captain of the Debate Team, co-president of the Drama Club, Civinettes, National Honor Society. She volunteers at FFGC Wekiva Youth Camp and works at Esposito's Pizza. Her hobbies include singing, playing guitar, reading, baking and outdoor activities. She plans to attend the University of West Florida to study environmental science and policy and pursue a career in environmental law.

Liliana Martinez, daughter of Jesus and Rosalinda Martinez, is a Plant City High graduate and Hillsborough Community College freshman. She works at Courtney Paat's State Farm Agency and interns at Barbizon Modeling Schools. Her hobbies include dancing, cooking, babysitting, shopping at consignment and antique shops, running 5Ks with her State Farm team and spending time with family and friends. She plans to transfer to the University of South Florida and obtain an elementary education degree.

Kellen Morris, daughter of Melinda and Robert Morris III, is a Plant City High School junior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is a member of the Civinettes, yearbook staff and the Plant City High varsity flag football team. Her hobbies include reading, creative writing, singing in the praise band at church and playing football with her dad and brother. She plans to attend the University of Florida, pursuing a law degree, specializing in juvenile adjudication.

Heather Ross, daughter of James and Lisa Ross, is a Durant High senior. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Senior Council, Students All Connected Community Service Club, Marine Science Club and FFA. She is also a member of the Parliament Procedure Team, has shown a steer at the Florida Strawberry Festival and has participated in Relay for Life. She volunteers by mentoring little gymnasts and her hobbies include going to the beach, boating and running on the beach. She plans to attend the University of South Florida and major in marine biology.

Shelby St. Amant, daughter of Whitney and Robert St. Amant Jr., is a Newsome High School honors graduate and a freshman at Hillsborough Community College. She currently volunteers at Shriner's Children's Hospital in the public relations department. Her hobbies include clogging, line dancing, showing cattle and spending time with family and friends. She plans to transfer to Florida State University to obtain a joint degree in sports management and law.

Megan Shulmister, daughter of David and Janeel Shulmister, is a Plant City High School junior. She is junior class president, varsity cheerleader, member of Best Buddies service club, Civinettes, a summer teen program volunteer at South Florida Baptist Hospital and member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend the University of Florida and major in marketing and hopes to find a career that allows her to travel.

Kierstan Thomas, daughter of Garth Thomas and Angela Creech, is a Plant City High junior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Health Occupation Students of America and has been a Plant City Dolphin volunteer for three years. Her hobbies include reading, cooking with her dad, mentoring a young cheerleading team and spending time with family and friends. She plans to obtain a master's degree in nursing at the University of South Florida.

Marissa Thompson, daughter of Jack and Anissa Thompson, is a Durant High School senior. She was 2013 homecoming queen and calendar girl, and a member the Durant track team and the Criminal Justice Mock Trial Club. Her hobbies include running, assisting with Little League football, fishing, going to car shows and spending time with family. She plans to attend Florida State University, then pursue a law degree.

Jessi Rae Varnum, daughter of Scott and Katie Varnum, is a Durant High senior. She was named Outstanding Teen 2013, member of National Honor Society, vice president of student government, producer of D News morning show, captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, yearbook managing editor, member of LEO Club, and student representative of Parent Teacher Student Association. She plans to attend Florida Southern College and major in sports medicine with an emphasis on physical therapy.

Cassidy Wright, daughter of James and Deana Wright, is a Plant City High senior who is dual enrolled at Hillsborough Community College. She is a member of the Senior Executive Council, National Honor Society and Civinettes, and a varsity cheerleader, member of the track team and flag football team. She attends First Baptist Church of Plant City and is a kindergarten volunteer at Knights Elementary and volunteer coach at the YMCA. She plans to attend a four year university and major in elementary education.
