PLANT CITY – Four girls ages 5 to 15 will be crowned at a Jan. 11 pageant that helps herald in the Florida Strawberry Festival.
A winner, first maid and three court members will be selected by a judges panel in the following age divisions: baroness, 5- and 6-year-olds; duchess, 7- to 9-year-olds; princess, 10- to 12-year-olds; and queen, 13- to 15-year-olds.
The girls competing in the Junior Royalty pageant will be chosen based on personality, appearance and natural beauty and smile.
Admission is $10 per person for the pageant, which starts at 6 p.m. at the agriculture pavilion at the festival grounds, 2301 W. Oak Ave.
The pageant will include a final appearance by the 2013 winners, including Baroness Kamri DePianta, Duchess Bailey Brock, Princess Kamille Long and Queen Elizabeth Padilla.
The 2014 Junior Royalty winners will ride in parades and play other roles in the festival, which will be Feb. 27 to March 9.
The other major festival pageant, the queen’s contest for women 16 to 20, will be Jan. 25, also at the festival’s agriculture center.
