PLANT CITY – About 30 employers and nearly 200 job seekers were on hand for an Oct. 9 job fair at Hillsborough Community College’s Plant City campus.
Nicole Hamilton, student services manager for the campus, said the fair was the best ever in terms of turnout. The event was open to both students and members of the general public and included such employers as the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and KinderCare Learning Centers.
Hamilton, who coordinates the job fairs on behalf of the campus’ career center, said she seeks employers from an array of fields to set up booths.
The job fair has been held annually for about five years. Hamilton, who has supervised the event for the last three years, said she doesn’t have statistics on how many people land jobs at the events, but she thinks its significant.
“Students will come back to me (after the job fair) and say they found a job,” she said.
Paige Blocker, who is not a student, was among those looking for a job at the fair. Blocker said she enjoyed being able to reach multiple employers under one roof.
