PLANT CITY One lane may be closed in either direction on a local stretch of Interstate 4 between 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
An eastbound or westbound lane may be closed as workers install rumble strips on the shoulders of the interstate between McIntosh and Branch Forbes roads. The strips are small groves in the asphalt that alert drivers when they drift outside the travel lanes.
This may be the final lane closures for a little more than a month on the 3.2-mile stretch of highway. After the rumble strips are in place, the only job left for crews will be for restriping the asphalt, spokesman John McShaffrey said.
That should take place in September, after the Labor Day weekend, he said.
The Florida Department of Transportation is spending $3.1 million to repave the stretch of highway and related work. The project started in late March.
