PLANT CITY — Teenaged singer-songwriter Francesca Giorgianni wowed a Florida Strawberry Festival crowd for the second year with a country-pop acoustic concert that included some original songs.

The freshman at Hillsborough High School’s IB program played March 2 before a packed crowd at the festival’s Stingray Chevrolet Entertainment Tent.

Giorgianni’s original songs feature complex, soulful lyrics that can appeal to all ages. She said the inspiration comes naturally.

“I just write them,” she said. “Whatever comes to me.”

The 14-year-old who lives in Odessa has played the piano and acoustic guitar for more than 10 years. She practices and rehearses up to two weeks prior to a performance.

She has been performing for three years in venues that include The Grille at Westchase, Dunedin Smokehouse and multiple stages in Nashville, Tenn. Giorgianni has also participated in the American Idol Experience in Orlando where she placed third.

At the strawberry festival, she performed cover songs from artists such as The Band Perry. Her original songs included “Can’t Catch Me Now,” “Again This Time,” and “The One That You Left Behind.”

She said that she looks to artists such as Taylor Swift and Eva Cassidy as she studies music and concert performances.

“Music was just something that I loved so I wanted to play for people and make them happy,” Giorgianni said.
