PLANT CITY The holding company of Sunshine Bank has appointed former state House Speaker Will Weatherford to its board of directors.
“We’re very fortunate to have Will Weatherford join our board of directors,” Sunshine Bancorp chairman Ray Rollyson said in a statement. “His leadership and insight will be a tremendous asset, and we are eager to utilize his expertise as we continue to strengthen and grow our franchise.”
The Wesley Chapel Republican served as speaker of the Florida House of Representatives from 2012-2014.
In addition to his public service, Weatherford is the managing partner of Weatherford Partners, a consulting and investment firm.
Weatherford serves on the board of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the National Collation of Capital, the U.S. Global Leadership Collation, the Republican State Leadership Committee, Take Stock in Children, and other organizations.
He and his wife Courtney have four children, Ella Kate, Molly, Madelyn and William.
Sunshine Bank was formerly known as Sunshine State Federal Savings and Loan, founded in 1954.
