PLANT CITY – A cast of 400 will present the story of the birth of Christ at Plant City’s First Baptist Church’s annual Christmas production.

“Light of Christmas” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, 503 N. Palmer St.

“We will tell Christ’s story in song and drama,” Minister of Worship Pete Battaglia said.

Battaglia has a lot of practice at Christmas productions; this marks his 25th anniversary heading up the programs.

He expects a total of at least 4,000 people to attend over the three nights. There is no charge for tickets, available at the church office, from church members and at the door. Sometimes the shows are crowded but no one has ever been turned away.

Preparations for each Christmas production start about six months ahead of time. Rehearsals for the church choirs, soloists, orchestra, drama team and others get more frequent as the opening day approaches.

This year, a CD of the songs from “Light of Christmas” will be available for $15 at the church office and at each performance.
