PLANT CITY — Members of Plant City’s First Baptist Church voted unanimously today to call a 45-year-old Georgia minister as their new senior pastor.
The members in favor of hiring Dr. Brian Stowe were asked to stand after he left the sanctuary following the 11 a.m. sermon, which he delivered. Everyone in the audience rose to their feet.
Stowe, who has been senior pastor for 16 years at Maysville Baptist Church in Maysville, will preach his first sermon on Dec. 8.
He takes the place of the Rev. Michael S. Lewis, who left in January to take a job with the Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Missions Board.
Stowe and his wife of 21 years, Bonnie, have four children, Sarah, 16, Hannah, 14, Andrew, 9, and Elizabeth, 2. They have already found a home in Plant City.
