Community theater garners many nominations

PLANT CITY -

Plant City Entertainment received nearly 30 nominations for annual awards presented for top work at area community theaters.

The MONTI Awards recognize outstanding contributions in the arts. The winners will be announced at a ceremony 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Center Place in Brandon.

Plant City Entertainment's nominees this year include:

Best actor-musical, Domin Pazo, as Pseudolus in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum"

Best actress – play, Nadine Guerre-Grimm as Jimmie Wyvette Verdeen, "The Red Velvet Cake War," Jennifer Jackson as Gaynelle Verdeen Bodeen, "The Red Velvet Cake War," and Krysteena Wakefield as Cinnamon Schmidt in "Don't Tell Mother."

Best actor – play, Jeremy Davis as Detective Joe Shimko, "Don't Tell Mother."

Best supporting actor - musical, Coy Permenter as Hysterium, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum."

Best supporting actress – musical, April Golombek as herself, "The Coffee Shop."

Best supporting actor, play, John Harrer as Newt Blaylock, "The Red Velvet Cake War" and Tyler Hollis as Orville Maddox, "Don't Tell Mother."

Best supporting actress – play, Mollie Anderson as CeeCee Windham, "The Red Velvet Cake War" and Judy Barta as Martha Berelzheimer, "Don't Tell Mother."

Best featured/ensemble actor – play or musical, Maurice Cecchini as Erronious, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum" and Tom Mitchell as Sheriff Grover Lout, "The Red Velvet Cake War."

Best featured/ensemble actress – play or musical, Lou Baird as Mama Doll Hargis, "The Red Velvet Cake War" and Olivia Mitchell as herself, "The Coffee Shop."

Best director – play, Kelley Gustafson, "The Red Velvet Cake War" and Dodie White, "Don't Tell Mother."

Best director - musical, April Golombek and Courtney Kyle, "The Coffee Shop" and Kristen Permenter, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum."

Best musical director, Nicholas Folkes, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum."

Best set design, Paul Hetrick, "The Red Velvet Cake War" and Paul Hetrick and Kristen Permenter, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum."

Best sound design, Nicholas Folkes and Jeff Moranville, "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum."

Best lighting design, Jeff Moranville, "The Red Velvet Cake War."
