PLANT CITY – Independence Day will be celebrated with entertainment, children’s games and fireworks starting at 6 p.m. Friday at Plant City Stadium.

Tim Hanlon, special events coordinator for the Plant City Recreation and Parks Department, said he’s hoping for a big crowd, depending on the weather. The fireworks show that starts at 9:15 p.m. should go on regardlesss of conditions, he said.

“Fireworks can go off in the rain,” Hanlon said.

The on-field activities will include inflatables, face painting, balloon art, children’s craft center, rock-climbing wall and bungee jumping on a trampoline.

Food will be sold at stadium concession stands as well as by vendors on the perimeter of the field.

Parking is available only in the stadium parking lot, and entry is from East Park Road only. No parking will be allowed near the complex along Park Road, Jim Johnson Road and Gordon Food Service Drive. Following the fireworks, event traffic will flow one-way away from the complex as vehicles exit the parking lots onto Park Road and Gordon Food Service Drive.
