PLANT CITY — Get your sweet tooth ready.

Girl Scouts are taking orders for cookies as part of the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year.

This year’s Girl Scout cookie line-up includes Do-Si-Dos, Dulce de Leche, Samoas, Tagalongs, Thank U Berry Munch, Thin Mints, Trefoils and Savannah Smiles.

The varieties are the same as last year, but you’ll have to shell out a bit more cash: The price per box rose by 50 cents to $4 per box.

Cookies will be sold by the 21,000 Girl Scouts throughout Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sumter counties. The scouts will take preorders through Jan. 26, with delivery starting Feb. 17.

Girl Scouts will sell cookies from booths set up outside stores and other locations from Feb. 21 through March 16.

Girl Scout Cookies are not only an icon of American culture, said Jennifer Medeiros, spokeswoman for the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida. The sales help girls hone such skills as planning, decision-making and customer service, she said.

The Girl Scout Cookie program is the largest girl-run business in the world, Medeiros said. The money they earn pays for Girl Scout activities throughout the year, and for community projects.

For information about purchasing Girl Scout cookies, go to www.gswcf.org/cookies or call (800) 881-4475, ext. 1838.
