PLANT CITY A 19-year-old Plant City man was killed when a truck driven by his mother overturned in Lakeland, officials said.

Travis Kinkade, 7311 Paul Buchman Highway, was killed about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Polk County sheriff's deputies said.

Deputies said Kinkade was a passenger in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup with a 12-inch lift kit installed on it that was traveling westbound on Swindell Road.

The truck, driven by 37-year-old Brenda White entered a 90-degree turn at a high rate of speed and overturned, throwing out her son, who was not wearing a seatbelt, deputies said.

The truck landed on top of him.

White, who lived at the same address as her son, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Another passenger in the truck, 19-year-old Dustin Johnson of 4022 Peek St., Mango, was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.

The investigation is continuing and speed appears to be a factor in this crash, deputies said.
