The Mudzilla mud run in Plant City has received a new name – MudTitan. , which will appear on the next mud run December 7 in Plant City.
The name Mudzilla was changed to MudTitan after race organizers were informed that a trademark had been applied for on the race’s signature name. The new name will appear at the next mud run Dec. 7.
Race organizer Mike Nelson, chief operating officer of the Youth Alliance, credited co-organizer Mike Floyd with having thought of the mud run’s new name.
“We were looking for something that represented mud and big, powerful, and tough,” Nelson said.
A portion of the proceeds from the mud run will go to benefit the Youth Alliance, an organization that gives motivational talks in schools across the United Sates and addresses issues such as anti-bullying, health and relationships. Nelson explained that the concept of MudTitan, a race that relies heavily on self-motivation, fits in well with the Youth Alliance.
“We love a challenge and have organized street runs for years,” he said. “It fits our competitive spirit. We also love the people who do these runs. They are all so positive and inspiring to us.”
The first mud run was held May 18, and was so successful that race organizers decided to hold a second mud run in December, only with added improvements and modifications. Apart from a new route and expanded obstacles, the race will also feature an obstacle building contest and a kids mini MudTitan for children ages 6 through 12.
“We have taken all the good and made it great and taken the new ideas to make it one unforgettable day,” Nelson said.
MudTitan will be held December 7, at 1500 Prevatt Rd. in Plant City. For additional information regarding the mud run visit www.themudtitan.com.
