Wishes for a good year as Jewish New Year begins

Published:

Celebration of the Jewish New Year began at dusk Wednesday night for Pinellas County’s estimated 25,000 Jewish residents.

Meaning literally “head of the year,” Rosh Hashanah’s customs include sounding a shofar (an instrument fashioned from a ram’s horn) and eating apples dipped in honey to signify a sweet new year.
