Police are seeking the public's help in locating the suspect in an armed robbery early Sunday at a St. Petersburg pizza restaurant.

According to surveillance video, a man armed with a butcher knife forced his way into Wood Fire Pizza, 344 First Ave. S., at 2:52 a.m.

The business was closed, but two employees were working inside at the time.

The robber gained entry after one employee exited the rear door to empty trash. The employee was approached outside by the man, punched in the face and threatened with the knife.

After securing the employee's hands, the intruder forced him back into the restaurant and pushed him to the floor, police said. The robber then entered an inner office and confronted a second employee, threatened her with the knife and zip-tied her arms.

The intruder then took the restaurant's night receipts, which were on the office desk, police said. He then fled.

Police were called about 3:37 a.m.

Police described the suspect as in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 130 pounds, with a pock-marked/acne face. He was wearing a dark hoodie and was possibly riding a bicycle.

Detectives released security video of the robbery.
