A U.S. Army major has been extradited to Pinellas County, three weeks after Clearwater police charged him in connection with the death of his wife’s former husband two years ago.

Maj. Roman Izzo, 35, was transported Thursday from Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and is being held without bond in the Pinellas County Jail on first-degree murder charges.

Izzo was charged Nov. 8 in the slaying of Vincent Edward Lee, 43. whose body was found inside his condominium on Nov. 16, 2011, off Landmark Drive.

Police say Lee’s death stems from a custody dispute between Lee and his former wife.

Izzo has been with the army since 2000, and he has been a major since 2009. He has been deployed to Iraq three times, once served in Kosovo, and has been awarded two Bronze Star medals, according to an Army spokesman.
