Two pedestrians are hospitalized after one of them was hit by a vehicle Saturday night in Palm Harbor.

Just before midnight Saturday, Equbal Kalani, 53, of Dunedin, was driving south in a 2012 Honda Pilot on Alternate 19, north of Alderman Road, when Amanda Chakos, 28, of New Middleton, Ohio, walked west across the road and into the vehicle’s path, troopers said.

The crash knocked Chakos into Lori Baker, 41, of Tarpon Springs, FHP said.

Chakos was flown by Bayflight to St. Joseph's Hospital in critical condition. Baker was transported to Helen Ellis Memorial Hospital in stable condition, according to FHP.

The crash occurred in an unlighted area and Chakos outside of a marked crosswalk, troopers said.
