Three-vehicle crash leaves one person dead in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG – A 24-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of 38th Avenue North and U.S. 19, according to St. Petersburg police. The crash was reported about 9:45 a.m.

According to police, the accident happened when Tuong Nguyen, 63, of St. Petersburg was trying to turn left onto northbound U.S. 19 from 38th Avenue and hit the rear of a Ford Escape in the intersection.

The Escape, which was driven by Vayneveu Kene Bruessard, 2647 38th Ave. N., flipped over and rolled onto a Ford pickup driven by George Lawler, 68, of St. Petersburg. Bruessard was partially ejected during the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue.

Nguyen suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Lawler was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
