Tarpon Springs police seek help in solving doctor’s death

Crime Stoppers of Pinellas County is asking for the public’s help to solve the slaying of a Tarpon Springs doctor last month.

Steven Schwartz, 74, was killed in his home at 1310 Belcher Drive on or about May 28, police said. Schwartz’s wife, Rebecca, had returned to the couple’s $1.6 million waterfront home and found the place in disarray, and suspecting a burglary, she backed out of the home and called 911.

A K-9 team and police then went inside and found Schwartz, who died from trauma to his upper body.

It did not appear to be a random act of violence, police said.

Anyone with information that may help identify the person or person responsible can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS (8477), report anonymously online at crimestoppersofpinellas.org, text “TIP144” plus your tip to 274637(CRIMES) or send a mobile tip using our new “TipSubmit Mobile” application, which is a free download for iPhones, iPads, and Android devices.
