SWAT team subdues Kenneth City man after he threatened roommates

Published:

A 31-year-old man is jailed today after he was subdued by a SWAT team following reports that he threatened to kill his roommates.

Justin D. Peters, of 4822 56th Way North, Kenneth City, was taken to the Pinellas County Jail where he was booked on two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and felon in possession of a firearm.

Two men told Kenneth City police that their roommate, Peters, was intoxicated, arguing with them, and at one point pointed a shotgun at them threatening their lives, police said.

Police responded to the scene with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and its SWAT and negotiating team.

Officials communicated with Peters throughout the early morning, police said. About 11:30 a.m., that communication ended and the SWAT team entered the residence and apprehended him without incident.

Kenneth City police took possession of the firearm.
