A 22-year-old St. Petersburg woman was arrested Monday in the fatal shooting of a Pinellas Park man that authorities say was the result of a drug deal gone awry.
Mariah Jordan Bell faces a charge of first-degree murder in the Friday shooting of Gerald Francis Way II, 24.
Way contacted Bell to arrange to buy Roxicodone; she, in turn, contacted a cohort known as "Rick" to set up a deal, according to an arrest affidavit.
There was some bad blood between Rick and Way, as Way had robbed Rick of several hundred dollars several weeks before the shooting, the affidavit says.
When Bell and Rick showed up at Way's home at 5021 69th Ave. N. in Pinellas Park, Rick got out of their vehicle and demanded his money, the affidavit says. Bell heard a shot, Rick got back into their vehicle and they fled, the document says.
