A 35-year-old St. Petersburg motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon when he crashed into a vehicle that had pulled into his path, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.
Christopher Sawyer was transported to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg where he is being treated.
Just before 3:30 p.m., Sawyer was heading north in the 7900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street on a 2011 Honda motorcycle when a Honda sedan exited a parking lot into the path of Sawyer’s motorcycle, police said.
Sawyer, who was wearing a helmet, vaulted into the vehicle’s windshield and then landed on the pavement, police said.
The driver of the Honda sedan and the two passengers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. They were also transported to Bayfront Medical Center where they were treated, police said.
