ST. PETERSBURG — Motorists coming off the interstate into downtown this morning may have noticed a giant tent on Fourth Avenue North covering the city’s historic ballroom and event space.

The Coliseum is getting the same treatment as many of the 1920s-era wood frame bungalows in the city’s urban neighborhood: tenting for termites.

The building is being treated for the wood-eating pests, city officials said. Further details weren’t immediately available.

This year, the city paid to tent the visitor center building at Sunken Gardens on Fourth Street North.
