Springtime in January is coming to an end.
After one more day of spring-like conditions, a cold front that is battering much of the South and Midwest will pass through the Tampa Bay area today, bringing gusty winds and cooler temperatures heading into the weekend.
Highs today again will be in the low 80s, aided by strong breezes from the south, Storm Team 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Mild conditions will linger into tonight, with temperatures in the mid-60s, before the front pushes through overnight and keeps temperatures cool into the weekend.
Spann said the front, which will weaken considerably once it reaches the Tampa Bay area, will produce a line of showers before daybreak.
Afterward, temperatures will struggle to climb more than 5 degrees throughout the day, reaching only the mid-60s Thursday under clearing skies.
The pleasant conditions will last through the weekend into next week, with highs in the low-70s and lows in the upper-40s to low-50s.
