A tractor-trailer carrying 18 tons of Crisco that had been stolen from a St. Petersburg towing yard was located late Monday in South Florida, officials said.
The rig was abandoned when it was found by Hialeah police, officials said Tuesday.
There was no word on the status of the truck’s contents, 36,000 pounds of Crisco vegetable shortening sticks.
The rig was reported stolen Sunday morning from Coastal Towing, 2390 118th Ave. N., St. Petersburg police said.
In additon, another tractor-trailer at the business filled with boxes from Amazon’s Ruskin distribution center had been burglarized, police said. A number of boxes were opened and the contents taken. Police don’t know yet what items were taken from the Amazon boxes.
The Crisco sticks were to be delivered to the Publix distribution center in Lakeland, police said.
Anyone with information should call St. Petersburg police.
