Security video shows intruder inside St. Pete home

Police hope a surveillance video will help them locate a man who broke into a St. Petersburg home early Monday but fled after a resident pulled out a gun.

The man entered the home, on the 3800 block of 39th Street South, at 1:50 a.m. through an unsecured sliding glass door, police said.

Once inside, he walked around and picked up valuables, eventually opening the door to a bedroom, where one of the two residents produced a handgun, police said.

Home surveillance video shows the intruder moving throughout the house.

Police described the burglar as light-skinned black or Hispanic, with close cut hair and close cut beard, and numeral tattoos of “8” on his left calf and “4” on his right calf. He was wearing a light-colored, long-sleeved shirt, light-colored shorts and dark Nike shoes.

Anyone with information should call Detective Ricky Carter at (727) 893-4095 or the police non-emergency number at (727) 893-7780. A confidential tip can be left at (727) 892-5000.
