A female driver is in custody under the Baker Act and has been transported to a local hospital after police say she drove recklessly along the Pinellas Trail this morning, forcing several bicyclists off the trail and striking several barricades.

St. Petersburg police say Leeann Hensley, 60, whose last known address is 1531 Gentry Street in Clearwater, was acting wildly and appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic when she was taken into custody earlier today.

Police began receiving reports around 9:15 a.m. about a white Ford F-150 pickup truck driving recklessly northbound on the trail, exiting near 38th Avenue North.

The truck, which is registered under Hensley’s name, then appeared to head back south on the trail where it was finally found stopped near Fifth Avenue North and 71st Street, police say.

No charges have been filed, but police say the investigation continues.

No injuries were reported, police say.
