Police release images from St. Pete bank robbery

Police investigators released surveillance images Thursday from a robbery at a St. Petersburg bank in hopes of generating clues from the public.

Police were called at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday to the Chartway Federal Credit Union, 6540 Fourth St. N. Police said a man handed a note to a teller demanding cash and that no weapon was seen or implied.

Police said the robber was in his mid-40s, 5 feet 8 inches tall and with a medium build. He was clean shaven and had light-brown, wavy hair to the ear. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans and appeared to be wearing several layers of clothing.

The suspect was last seen riding a bicycle southbound on Fourth Street North, police said.

Anyone with information about the suspect should call police on their non-emergency number, (727) 893-7780, text a tip to (727) 420-8911 or leave a confidential tip at (727) 892-5000.
