A man killed his wife and then himself today, the same day the couple who was going through a divorce was scheduled to appear in court, according to Clearwater police.

Police said Eugene Agbebaku, 33, of Wesley Chapel, went to 1279 Abbey Crescent Lane, off McMullen-Booth Road near Ruth Eckerd Hall. He broke into the condominium, where Ingrid Agbebaku, 32, also of Wesley Chapel, was staying with her grandmother, police said.

Eugene Agbebaku shot and killed his wife, then he left the home and fatally shot himself in front of 1306 Abbey Crescent Lane, police said.

Police said they received calls of a shooting about 3:45 a.m., and a Russian assault rifle was recovered at the scene.

In February, Eugene Agbebaku was arrested for soliciting a female detective for sex in exchange for money, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
