Pinellas man accused of planning sex trip with underage girl

CLEARWATER — An Oldsmar man was arrested Sunday on charges that he tried to take an underage Clearwater girl he met online out of state so he could use drugs and have sex with her, according to police records.

Carlos Santiago Garcia, 21, 542 Longwood Circle, was accused of interference with child custody, traveling to meet a minor and use of computer service prohibited, jail records state. He was released from the Pinellas County Jail after posting $20,300 in bail, records show.

Garcia was accused of establishing a relationship with the girl, whose age was not available, through a social networking website and with his cellphone, records state. He was arrested in Clearwater as he and the girl were putting her luggage into the trunk of his car, the records state.

The two had agreed to go out of state to use drugs, and Garcia also told police he intended to have sex with her if she consented, the records state.
