Bucking a recent trend of rental housing going up in downtown St. Petersburg, a new six-story condominium is set to begin construction near Beach Drive early next year.
The condominiums will be located at 146 Fourth Ave. N.E., between First Street North and Beach Drive.
Wide pedestrian sidewalks and park-like landscaping will complement the building’s exterior, a statement by the city said.
Several condo projects planned before the 2008 recession stalled or were reworked as upscale rental apartments.
By the end of this year, two of those apartment buildings are expected to be finished, including the Urban Landings/Harbour Edge apartments at Fourth Avenue South between Third and Fourth streets and Campbell Landings, further west on Fourth Avenue South.
