Motorcyclist dies after collision at St. Pete intersection

Published:

A 34-year-old man died late Sunday, five days after he lost control of his motorcycle in a collision at a St. Petersburg intersection.

Patrick Herrington died at 9:30 p.m. at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

The crash occurred at 8:44 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Herrington, on a 2009 Yamaha motorcycle, was going north on Fourth Street approaching 88th Avenue North at a high rate of speed, police said.

Herrington passed a GMC sport utility vehicle that was in the center lane when a southbound 2013 Honda attempted to turn left into a Starbucks at 88th, police said.

Herrington locked the rear tire of the motorcycle, which turned onto its right side and slid into the Honda, police said.

Herrington was struck by the Honda during the collision, police said.

The Honda then collided with the front bumper of the GMC, police said.

Police provided no report of injuries to the driver of the GMC, 32-year-old Celesta Carter, or Honda, 39-year-old Yauna Williams.
